Big whoppity do.
A Bible verse on each tea tag - how cheesy.
Yes, I totally scoffed when I received this gift and I totally scoffed again as I pulled it out this morning.
Seriously - what a dumb, tacky marketing ploy....
I work part time for a non-profit and I am
responsible for raising my own support - you see I get to ask people if they want to
give and partner with me so that I can be paid.
This morning I received a disheartening email
from someone whom I had asked to specifically give a significant amount and they said no and even more disheartening was that they have decided to not give anything at all.
Of course, they said they totally believed in me and in what I do.
But bummer deal dude.
I know my value to them (or anyone else for that matter) is not tethered to a dollar value but reading a no response isn’t a great way to start any day.
But now here I
sit and drink my tea – and I’m going to take that little tea bag
at face value because it had two verses on it:
"Trust the Lord with all your heart." Proverbs 3:5
and
“For I know the plans I have for you…plans to
give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
And I will need to believe that promise - today, tomorrow and the next because more people are probably going to say no and the truth is I’m gonna have to
trust the Lord with all my heart that he knows what he is doing with my future, especially if I want to get paid!
Thanks silly little tea bag.
What's the (seemingly) most cheesy thing you have been comforted by?
